Anyone know of anything that can cause my nail bed to peel?

Sorry my nails look so nastly right now. I know y'all probably wouldn't know and i should probably get it checked out but i want y'all opinions anout it and if anyone get this.

Did your finger get smashed? Was the nail scraped or damaged in some way? If nothing has happened to your nail, you might have nail fungus, or some other infection or internal issue causing this. 
If you know you damaged your finger or nail doing something, it will likely grow out fine. If this is out of the blue, get it looked at.

Hypothyroidism can do that. I have it and my nails look just like that at times.

Did you have Hand Foot and Mouth recently? My daughter's fingernails and toenails peeled about a month after she contracted it.
