Too early to test?

I was 13 dpo when I started spotting. I was suppose to start my period a day before. Its 14 dpo and I was spotting alittle heavier but not enough to soak up a panty liner or drip into the toilet. I tested today and it was negative. I knew I should've waited but I couldn't wait .. does the spotting look like implantation bleeding or..... the spotting has stopped btw. Ughhhh NEED ANSWERS PLEASE!!!
