Abnormal Pap smear results (ASCUS)

I just got my pap smear results back and they came up as abnormal. Has anyone else had this happen? I don’t think it’s HPV because i’ve never had sex without a condom. I also have a family history of cervical cancer (maternal grandmother), also a maternal aunt with precancerous cervical cancer (got a hysterectomy). What could these results mean? Doctor said no follow up needed, and to have another pap smear within a year.
