I went in for my 12 week appointment yesterday, had an exam and everything looked fine. They tried to find the heart rate with the sound doppler and couldn’t, said it may still be too early for her to be out from behind my pelvic bone. They said they’d do an ultrasound to let us see and hear the heartbeat, and if everything looked good they’d let us go for the day.

We did the ultrasound, saw the heart beat and heard it at 145 BPM. She said everything looked good and sent us home.

On my discharge paper, it had a column like it does every visit of “Issues Addressed Today”. Normally it just says pregnancy. Yesterday it also said “Fetal Distress”. It startled me, but I wrote it off as it was because they couldn’t hear the heartbeat on the doppler.

They always post my test results in the couple days after an appointment, and today I had a result posted for my ultrasound. The picture below is what was listed, and it says “Abnormal Fetal Heart Rate”.

They didn’t say anything concerning or out of the ordinary while I was at the appointment. Should I be concerned something is wrong? Or is this something they would have written to justify the reason for an ultrasound when I wasn’t due for one?
