Cord questions - delayed cord clamping?

Question

So I asked about delayed cord clamping and my doc says he normally doesn’t do delayed cord clamping, but rather he will push the blood from the cord to the baby.
How does this work compared to delayed cord clamping? 
I’m still undecided about delayed cord clamping or if I should save my son’s cord at a cord bank.

Delayed cord clamping usually is only a minute or two until the cord stops pulsing. Idk how that be any different than him taking a minute or two to push the blood. I’d rather just wait for the cord to stop pulsing over unnecessary intervention. But I’ve never heard of a doctor pushing the blood back so idk.

That’s weird... there are so many benefits to delayed cord clamping and it’s only a couple of minutes to wait so his resistance is strange to me. Not sure where you live but a lot of places are making it standard practice anyways. Stick with your preference and advocate for what you want. Your doctor should honor that. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Delayed cord clamping allows the blood to flow naturally to the baby. What your doctor is speaking of is a term called “milking”. All he’s doing is physically pushing the blood to your baby with his hands to get it all out of the cord and it only takes like a couple seconds. I don’t think there’s a difference though. Either way, baby is getting all those nutrients.

I asked my doctor about it and I was told some new studies are suggesting it could lead to jaundice. I have no idea. I can’t donate my baby’s cord blood because his father has a history of cancer, so we are ineligible. I want to donate it for research, but that’s been a dead end so far. I’m hoping my husband’s oncologist will be able to shed some light on donating it for research.
