Temp job agency's...should I try one?

I currently am not working and apparently this temp agency I applied to is located about an hour away..they want me to come up there for an interview to see if they can find anything for me. The only thing is because I don't currently have a job, driving an hour away is a little difficult because I don't have much gas money..so does anyone else think it'd be worth it to go and give it a try? Or am I better off just trying to continue to find a job on my own?
