Keto while trying?

Anyone have experience doing keto while trying? I did the diet for about two months earlier this year and loved it. Was hoping to start up again until I get my BFP but not sure if it’s bad for conception. We’ve been trying for a while.

Learning good eating habits that can sustain you throughout your life is much better for you. It’s nice to go on a diet and see quick results but you can’t do keto when you are pregnant. You’ll have to introduce carbs back into your diet and I imagine that’s not going to be a fun situation for your body. Diet should be about balance. There’s no reason to cut things out unless it’s processed foods and sugar.

If you have PCOS, keto can actually help your body to regulate your hormones to be able to conceive. However, keto is not recommended during pregnancy. 
Keto is a great lifestyle for people who have insulin or other hormone based health issues. It’s not right for everyone. Talk to your doctor to get the benefits and risks.

I did keto right up until the day I found out I was pregnant! 
I loved it—I had way more energy on Keto, and I felt like getting those extra pounds off before getting pregnant made a ton of difference to the way I felt after I got pregnant. 
I did read somewhere that women doing Keto while trying to conceive were more likely to have success and to have success quickly, though of course, opinions on Keto are so polarized, and this study was done by someone very obviously pro-Keto, so take that info with a grain of salt. The same article did state, however, that it is not considered safe to be on the diet once pregnant. Baby needs those carbs and can’t get them from your fat stores alone!
Do what feels right for you—if you go Keto, do it the right way. It’s easy to get sucked into eggs and cheese and bacon for every meal, but be sure to balance and get good veggie intake, and get good fats into your body instead of just any fats. I’d recommend starting on a prenatal vitamin now as well, as it’s hard to balance nutrients when you limit your food options as drastically as Keto does.
