When to fit Baby car seat?

I’m 33weeks and wondering when I should fit the baby car seat? I have started to pack my hospital bag as hearing that people have gone early freaks me out a little... thoughts?!

I never put mine in until I go into labor. Because if you get into a fender bender, accident, or someone hits you while you’re parked, you’ll have to replace the seat. Well most car seats brands require it. So I don’t risk it before the baby is born.

Just install the base now if you’re worried about it. Don’t actually put the car seat in. Hospitals need to make sure you have one before you leave. So just do the base.

I’m week 35 my last appointment my midwife suggested I install car seat and have it checked by fire station or police station

Just a reminder that not all fire stations have car seat techs. Fire fighters are not techs. So be sure to have an actual tech check out your installation

We just put it in the trunk when I go into labor and my husband installs it sometime after baby is born. Normally you’re in the hospital for at least 24 hours, most common is 2 days, so theres really no rush. If you don’t have anyone to install it for you then I’d install it no earlier that 38 weeks. If you get into any sort of accident you’ll have to replace the seat and that would be a big bummer.
