When to have a baby shower?

Question

I looked it up and etiquette puts it at 1.5-2.5 months before the birth, but that puts me right at around Christmas or too close to my dates because I'm more likely to be premie birth because of complications.
Would it be incredibly weird to do it around the time youd do a gender reveal?
Maybe im thinking of this too early (im 9 weeks) but im still nauseous and feeling hopeful about this rainbow pregnancy. Would it be too soon to do like a fall/harvest themed/timed baby shower as to not be too close to christmas time?

It’s ultimately up to you, I don’t think there is anything wrong with having one in the fall, I actually think it’s a super cute idea. The only thing I would do is wait to have it until you know the gender (if you are finding out/ telling people) if you want gender specific clothes or anything like that. 
I had mine after my little guy was born because he was so premature he came out 2 weeks before the shower was scheduled

I had two due to family in different states
First at 27 weeks cause it was in New York and I live in florida and couldn’t travel after that time.
the second one was at 34 weeks.

My first child was due end of January ( so is my second but not relevant) 
We had my baby shower before thanksgiving, after that there were too many people out of town or busy with holiday stuff. Also it was kind of nice for me to not be so huge and uncomfortable at the shower! And I had lots of time to put stuff away and get organized

I’m due start of February and I think we’ll have it end of November or start of December. I’m in Australia so no thanksgiving here so the holiday season really gets going in December.
