Breastfeeding

Alice

Hi ladies, my son is 6 weeks old and been breastfeeding since he was born but now I’m back to work and been pumping for him and nursing him when I get home. Well he has been pushimg my boob away but takes a bottle. I have 9 bags of milk left in my freezer and as much as I don’t want to, I’m afraid I’ll have to supplement with formula. I feel like I failed him, I feel like I can’t provide the one thing he needs most,, what do I do?

Check for the preemie nipple instead of the size 1. Also offer your breasts before each bottle, especially when baby is drowsy and hungry but not starving. Try to distract and talk to him/make it fun not stressful.

He most likely wants the bottle because the flow is faster than the boob. If you are still determined that he gets breastmilk, you can switch to exclusively pumping, which is what I do.
