What is NIPT test

I have a NIPT test scheduled this friday, I read online that it’s a blood test but when I was scheduling this at the hospital it seemed to be an ultrasound.
Update: I had an ultrasound sound where they checked the collection of fluid under the babies neck and a blood test where they poke my finger to get 5 drops of blood.

In the UK it is a blood test and an ultrasound - they combine the findings of both and then give you a result of how likely or unlikely it is that your child may have some sort of chromosomal issue or heart problem

It a blood test. It tests for chromosomal abnormalities and can do identify the gender.
