Pumping before baby

Did anyone pump before giving birth? My nurse told me to go ahead and start pumping tonight. To try to induce labor and bring milk down. I’m getting induced next Thursday but wanted to know if you had any milk come or did it start your labor!? Ftm so this is all new to me
