Would you feel unsafe with your full name on your employee uniform?
My husband's work just started requiring that they wear uniforms and they were just informed today that they would be required to have their full names embroidered on the uniforms. My husband feels very uncomfortable with this as they get alot of "weirdo"(in my husband's words) customers coming through the shops. They also have quite alot of attractive young women working there and my husband is concerned for their safety as well as they do have customers that are known sex offenders come through occasionally. There is also a sex offender on trial currently that works there for sexting with a 16 year old girl who was also his cousin 🤢😷. My husband's boss says it's a done deal and there is no changing it when others have brought up their discomfort individually but, I feel uncomfortable with my husband working there considering that our last name is unique enough that he could he tracked down easily by an irate customer. He doesn't work in a professional environment where he needs his last name known (shopworker) and he feels that the last initial would be more than enough alongside his first name as an identifier. I myself had my full name disclosed to an irate customer at my old job by a different representative and the customer then googled me and told me my address and phone number then told me that he'd show up to my home while I slept and blow my family and I's brains out. This experience has left my husband and myself wary of our information being disclosed. We feel that it is a violation of his personal safety and privacy and he stated that he has been shaking all day. His workplace already had unsafe people in it and now they know his name. Not to mention that his phone number along with his name on his new uniform was just sent in a group text to all of his coworkers. Is his employer violating his safety? Are we overreacting? What should my husband do without risking his job? He feels as if he could be fired for bringing it up alone. What are his rights? We are from the USA. Thanks in advance ladies.
