Sizing up?

CD mamas that did prefolds, did you have to size your baby's clothes up at all to fit over their fluffy bum?

Answer

Yes, in most sizes. When she got to the older baby clothes she fit in her own size better, as sizes stopped switching every 3 months. She’s also very tall, so sizing up works for her length as well. When others hear her clothing size and make comments about her being a big kid I do feel the need to occasionally explain her bulk is all cloth bum :)

I didn't truly have to size up, but she could fit into clothes before actually turning the number on the tag. And that's mostly because she's on a taller side. I did start sizing up for PJ's because we started putting on a really fat night time diaper and it made the legs on them seem very short. But regular day time diapers never gave us thickness problems, not even with pants, though sizing up in those worked well too. Basically what I came to regret though is all the newborn and 0-3 clothes I got. Not because she didn't fit in them. But because when she was so small, dressing her was hell. She'd scream her head off. Hated pulling her arms through sleeves or her head through the collar. We got all these cute things and mostly just kept her in PJs day and night, 1 because it was winter and coverage was needed anyway and 2 because they were the easiest to put on and take off. Then at an older age, when she didn't protest dressing so much anymore, I started just letting her go in the diaper 🙄 because it's summer, she gets around and eats/drools and it's easier to wipe her off than change her clothes/bibs all the time. Lol so we basically bought too many clothes and only use them for outings 😆 But she still fits into her age group clothes just fine and she's in like the 50-60 percentile for weight and 75-80 percentile for height.
