My Labor Story

Anna

Well...I've enjoyed reading everyone's birthing stories so much that I'm sharing mine. So my due date was August 20th but for several reasons my doctor and I decided to send me in for induction on friday night (primarily because of my advanced maternal age). I was only 1 cm dialated and about 50% effaced when i got here (oh I'm still in the hospital, by the way). They started me on cervadex (or whatever that pill is the they shove way up you to soften your cervex). I slept for a total of like 2.5 hours, they kept sending people in to check my vitals, and stick they're hands deep within me. The doctor came in around 530/6 am and told me I was at 3cm and they started me on pitocin. My contractions got a lot worse throughout the day, I would say they got to about a 7/8 on the pain scale. I was able to get a couple more hours of sleep and around 3pm, they checked me again and said I was still at 3cm. We decided to do the epidural and then the plan was so break my water. Well...the anesthesiologist came in and placed my epidural, which was scary and uncomfortable but gave me very much needed relief. I felt like I was peeing in bed but I guess my water finally broke on it's own. So I'm laying here, they're checking my vitals and babys heart rate and then all if the sudden more and more nurses kept coming in all trying to get babys heart rate up but it kept dropping. The next thing I know, my dr was like "we have to prep you for an emergency c section, we cant get her heart rate up". I was so scared and so nervous, I've never had surgery plus my little girl's life was at risk. They literally wheeled me back there and within 2 minutes I heard the most beautiful crying you could ever imagine. I was so thankful to hear the most precious little cry you could ever imagine. They finished up and transferred me to a recovery room where I stayed for about an hour. Then they wheeled me back into my delivery room. That's when the pain started to kick in. They had taken out the epidural in the OR so I had no pain relief anymore. Last night at about 11pm I'm laying here, super uncomfortable, not being able to sleep and I and I thought it would be a good idea to try and walk around. Well...that was the worst idea I've had in a while. First I just sat up with my feet dangling over the side of the bed, then became the time to stand up. As soon as I started to try and stand up, the.pain shot up to a 10nzj
