Rescuing a pit or pit puppy?

First and foremost I just want to say I do not care about your opinion of pit bulls as a breed, that is not what I am asking and don’t care to hear the nasty comments. Anyways, so some background, my two childhood dogs were both pits. My female is the oldest, she is of the Colby bloodline and is white with brindle spots. My male is of the razors edge bloodline and he is a blue pit. These dogs were absolutely my best friends growing up. They are sooo smart. They know how to “come here” and “go over there” in English, Spanish and German. They know how to; sit, lay down, shake, high five, “give me some” (like a fist bump), go pee pee/go outside, etc. If they wrap themselves up around something walking you just tell them “other way” and they’ll untangle themselves. They know how to find any family memeber, other animals included (“where’s mama, Trudy, Deno, Casper, Moochie, etc”). Really all around just absolutely amazing dogs. This being said though, they have gotten into about 3 fights, one resulting in my male biting a hole through my females ear and her gashing his leg open. They normally wouldn’t even get to each other as we learned signs in their behaviors that suggested they were getting upset such as their hair sticking up, low growls, a certain look on their face, so on and so forth. Therefor it was normally broken up before the fight even began and after about 10 minutes they’d be fine, and it was ALWAYS over food. Well fast forward to when my boyfriend and I had been together about two years at the time. We found out baby girl Bimmer (pit/lab) on the side of the road one day extremely malnourished and heart worm infested. Neither of our parents would let us keep her but we just couldn’t let her go so we ended up sleeping in my car with her the first few nights before his parents finally gave in. Well I ended up getting pregnant the same day we got her lol. We spent so much money getting her vaccinated, heart worm free and of course on toys and a nice bed. Long story short, she was a sweet dog but had clearly been abused before and would pee at loud noises, hyperventilated when we had work or school, etc. Well we ended up keeping my uncles dog (pit/boxer) for a few months as a mean of income so I could stay home as long as possible with the baby. Well that ended whenever they got into a fight (we don’t know what about as they were outside), I tried to break it up and got bit when pregnant with baby #2. Obviously we lied to the vet because I was going to let them put my babygirl down because I AM the one who got between them. My uncle took his dog back but things just still were not working out with Bimmer Grace simply because she needed and deserved more attention than we could give her with the boys and work. We ended up giving her to a long time family friend who had just lost his 19 year old dog. He is retired, has a large fenced in back yard in the country, she eats steaks and chicken everyday, and she is absolutely in love with her new home. We plan to get more dogs when the boys are of school age, and I WANT more pits so bad but am honestly hesitate at this point. I know everything will be fine if we get them as a puppy like we did with my childhood dogs, but I really like the idea of rescuing. Pits have such a bad rap, they’re starved, beaten, neglected, fought, used as bait dogs, etc. I see this stories on Snapchat all the time and I would just love to be able to save one, but also plan on having more than just one dog so the aggression towards other animals makes me nervous. Does anybody have any advice, rescue stories or are longtime pit parents with anything to share?

**** LONG, I know, sorry. I just don’t have any other social media and don’t know where to share this as y’all will be straight up w me.
