Old house help

Hi all.

My SO and I are moving in together for the first time. We're helping out a family member of mine, and renting a house from them. It's a REALLY old farm house. The downstairs was used, but the upstairs hasnt been used in many years. Our bedroom will be upstairs.

When you go up there, it definitely smells of an old house. We got the carpets and furniture cleaned downstairs, we will be getting the carpets cleaned upstairs as well, so I'm hoping that helps a little. We've been opening windows everytime we go over there while we clean and stuff.

What do you suggest we do to help get rid of the old house smell? I'm planning on washing the walls with water, vinegar and peroxide to see if it helps too.
