How old do you have to be to have your ears pierced at a piercing parlor?

I don’t want to go to piercing pagoda or Claire’s or anything. I want it done at a needle. There are a few piecing/tattoo places nearby but I was wondering if age requirements are common. My kids are 4 and 5 and want their ears pierced. Will they be able to get it done? Does it vary by shop or do they just do it for whoever walks in as long as a parent is there? Thanks in advance.
I know I can call and ask. I’m wondering if anyone has experience or has maybe worked in one. I want to know if it’s typical or not.

Call. Tattoo parlors with piercers won't allow anyone in under 18 for insurance reasons.

If it's lobes most shops simply require that child can give verbal.consent, and have a parent present. If Claire's can do it then why can't professionals? Just call and ask!

i got mine done at a tattoo parlor ! they sold bongs as well. however, they had an area dedicated to piercing. i got mine done when i was 16 or 17 and went in with an older friend of mine. they just had him sign a waiver taking responsibility for me. 
i would call though, as it differs. i got mine in california if it helps.

I think it depends on the place. Why don’t you call the pediatrician?  Mine offers ear piercing. Maybe yours does too?
