Would I be a bad mom if I took this job?

To start off, im a 26 year old, single mom to a 10 month old boy.

So I have a new job offer to be a therapist to autistic children. It will be a very demanding job between the work load and hours. Hours will vary between 9a-8p. M-F. With this job I will be able to start a career and move up in this field. I’ve already spend $160 to get CPR& 1st aid certificates and TB testing, etc.

but now Im getting feedback from family and friends saying that isn’t the right choice to make right now and and this isn’t the right time to start a career, I should be spending as much time with my son as possible. Their saying I’m going to miss out on a lot of things with him especially since he’s so young. They’re saying I should wait until he’s a little older to start this career path.

Poll question: would I be a bad mom if I took this job?

I would be bettering our lives, getting experience in this line of work.

Additional help. I have a 2nd job offer. Both jobs pay the same, however this second job I would just be a receptionist. I would make good money being a receptionist for this company, but not too much room for growth and not really a career, but it’s your typical M-F 9-5. So I wouldn’t be away from my son as much as Job 1.

Which job would you take if you were in my shoes?

I love my son so much. He’s my world. It will be hard to be away for so long, but I can better our future with job 1.

Now I’m second guessing taking the offer from job 1. I was excited for it as first, now I’m thinking maybe I am a bad mom for considering job 1.
