I love him but I am not happy

I been with my boyfriend for 3 years now and before when we use to live separate from each other it was great then we decided to live together but in a different state where I was from New York. The thing is I love him but I am not happy living away from where I was born and raised and he hates New York and will not move over there. I just cant anymore I miss my family and friends. Also I don't have anyone in these state and it is just hard 😭😭
