Dr said I'll only have 1 ultrasound

Has anyone else experienced there Dr saying they'd only have one 1 ultrasound unless something goes unplanned? My Dr told me today at this time I'll likely only have 1 ultrasound to find out the sex if we choose & to do tests....I'm due May 28th 6wk 4d & I was hoping for an 8 week ultrasound :(
