Today was my due date
On Sunday 8/11/19 at around 1 a.m I started feeling “contractions” that hurt. I tried sleeping it off and waiting to go into the hospital until I really needed to. At about 5 a.m I woke my husband up and decided to head to the hospital.. when they were monitoring me I stopped feeling any pain I had at home and was still only 1 cm dilated. I was so sad because I didn’t want to be sent back... well I wasn’t. They told me they wanted to keep me and induce me.
Once I was admitted and in my delivery room, the nurse told me that baby’s heart rate would drop and go back up a lot.(which is why I was admitted)
At about 8:45 a.m I was given Pitocin. I was seeing the contractions on the monitor but wasn’t feeling anything so passed on the epidural when was asked. As hours passed I got to 4 cm dilated but stayed there for hours. The doctor decided to break my water at this point. As soon as she broke my water I started feeling REAL contractions. I went to the bathroom and started crying. I kicked all my family out of my room besides my husband and mom. I was still going to pass up the epidural and wait it out but the pain was so unbearable my husband just recommended getting it ASAP.
About 15 minutes after they broke my water I got the epidural. Personally I didn’t think it hurt. (Just a little sting) The relief of pain after the epidural was amazing. After that I couldn’t feel a thing. Started dilating more and more.
When I was about 8 cm dilated, I started getting the shakes. I was running a fever of 103.5.. also, I was so thirsty but drinking water was making me throw up. My baby boy had pooped inside of me and I had gotten an infection.
On Monday 8/12/19 at 3:45 a.m I started pushing. 1 hour and 10 minutes later my baby boy was born.
Manuel Alejandro was born on August 12th 2019 at 4:54 a.m. Weighing 7lbs 15 ounces. Measuring 20 inches long.👶🏻💙
