Take a chance on a player?

So this guy that has played girls in the past and left them after sex has asked me on a date and expressed a lot of interest in me and of course I'm not stupid enough to believe I'm any different but my friends have said he hasn't spoken about a girl or puts in the effort like he does with me. I'm very confused if I should take a chance and see what happens. I've already stood my ground and told him I'm not interested in perusing sex with him on the date and he was fine about it. Should I go or should I stay home...?

Tough call, as no two people are the same..but in my expirience not worth the time, effort or Kleenex - plenty of nice boys out there lost and alone
