I was 41 weeks pregnant on the dot and went in to get an induction. I was only 1-2 dilated and 70% effaced so the started me out on the Foley catheter. 😖 By this time there was a shift change and a new nurse came in and decided to put more weight on the catheter cause it was just going too slow. They started me on the oxytocin drip by this time too and I was starting to feel the worst cramps but I pushed through all up until I was 7-8 dilated and 90%. 🤭 So much time went by though it was almost midnight at this time and so I went and got and epidural now before my water breaks because I was starting to feel my most pain tolerance now. When the anesthesiologist came in I was terrified because of all the stories I’ve heard about what happens when moms get the epidural but the pain was getting too much for me I just wanted to have my baby by now but didn’t know how much longer I could take. I was so hesitant about saying yes when the doctor showed up waiting. I couldn’t stop shaking my body so I tried waiting a bit before I gave him the okay to do it. When I did I jumped pretty bad when he gave me the numbing needle and by the time he was done with the epidural my husband fainted and three nurses had to run in just to help him! Finally after this thy gave me a catheter which I never knew you had to do when you’re in labor haha. They let us sleep u til around 4:00 AM Monday morning and saw I was almost there and now I was restless and one of my legs started gaining feeling again and a little after 4:40 AM the nurses came in and we started pushing. I never thought my husband could get through this part but he watched the head come out and everything my mom even had to hold one of my legs back to help me. 5:43 AM my baby William Lee King was born 8 lbs 12 oz and 22 inches long! I’m a pretty small person and we were all shocked on how big he was but he’s still my precious tiny baby and he’s just beautiful. 💕
