Endometriosis, Testing and Pregnancy

Tayla

Hey there, I am wondering if anyone could please clarify and provide some advice in this area.

I am currently 20 and hit puberty when I was 11. Ever since I can remember my periods have been extremely painful with very heavy bleeding as well. Every month since I’ve used Advil, Panadol and Nurofen to ease the pain. I would be taking the daily limit of recommended tablets with little to no ease with the pain. At the age of 16 I went to the doctor and started using ponstan which was recommended to ease the pain which didn’t help either. I’ve tried so many different versions of the pill with no relief and the constant feeling of nausea when taking each course.

In May earlier this year I saw my private gp and was referred to a gynaecologist, and was also given a referral to a medical imaging clinic. At this point I didn’t have the money to see the gynaecologist so I did the medical imaging. They found a pea sized cyst on my left ovary, whilst doing the ultrasound I was in extreme pain and this continued to be the case in the following weeks. I woke up one morning, went to the bathroom and the next minute I was on the floor, struggling to breath, I needed to vomit but I hadn’t eaten in a while and almost blacked out. I went to the hospital and was sent home hours later with no answer. Before this I didn’t know about the cyst either.

My doctor decided to contact someone at the hospital to try and get me in for the diagnostic surgery. Which I am now booked in for on September 18th. I’ve decided to go ahead with this but I’ve also heard some horror stories that go with it as well. Which let’s face it is freaking me out.

I’m unsure if this operation is going to risk my chances of pregnancy in the future or not which is also a worry. If anyone has advice on this part or has any experience please share.
