What questions to ask new OB

Hey ladies. I'm on pregnancy #2. First baby was C section. I'm hoping for a VBAC this time around. But I'm also changing OBs due to a move. (Sad because I absolutely loved my last one.) One office I called said if you've ever had a c section, she required you have another. Period. No exceptions. I wasnt expecting that. This office didn't mention it on the initial phone call. But I'm going to ask lots of questions when I go for my 8 week scan. Any advice on what to ask, red flags, etc? TIA

There’s only one hospital in my area that allows vbac. The ones that don’t allow it don’t do so because they aren’t equipped to handle a post partum hemorrhage if there would be a perforation

You will have to find a doctor who is supportive of them because even if a hospital approves them it is your doctor who will have to agree. It will also depend on what the reason was you needed a c section, how long since your last c section...I know most doctors will not induce if you are doing a vbac so you have to go into labor on your own. I was not a candidate for a vbac due to how early my c section was and the strain on the scar from being much further along this time. Good luck in finding a doctor who is supportive though!

Stand your ground and do your research.  I had a successful vbac a couple months ago and the area I live in is generally not the most supportive.  The ACOG has the stance that a woman should be given the option of a trial of labor and you’ll need to make it clear that you intend to do so if there is not an immediate danger to your child.  It may not be easy but it was so worth it. Just remember that you are in charge of what is done to your body not your doctor.

I mean it's not the office that makes the decision on whether you can attempt a vbac. It's the hospital. So make sure you call and ask labor and delivery on their hospital policy about vbacs.

so 1. if your dr is affiliated with a hospital that doesnt support vbac, they cant let you vbac, so you'll need to call labor and delivery and ask. 
2. some drs wont take one cases if it's a risky background.

That's a red flag right there. I'd be switching docs again ASAP.
