Micro nursing?!?!

My little boy is 4 days old. He is only nursing between 3-8 minutes at a time, his longest session being 12 minutes. He is sleeping all day, and is strufgling to stay awake during feedings. I really am at a loss and am concerned about his eating?! His first check up is tomorrow morning but I am terrified hes not gaining 😟he seems full and is not showing any signs of hunger after the feedings..

Well ladies, my little boy is gaining weight juuuussst fine! 
At birth he weighed 7lbs 2 oz.
When we left the hospital he was 6.11
Today, at just 5 days old he's back up to 7.1!!!! 
He might nurse a lot, just in little quantities, but he is definitely getting what he needs from me. They all had to throw in what a perfect little baby he is 💙💙

Thanks so much ladies! This is not my first baby, its my third lol 😂 my other boys were EATERS though. Would nurse upwards of 30 minutes. This little one is just blowing my mind with the way he nurses 😕 I'm not used to it, and its been 5 years since my last one was born so everything feels so new again.

My daughter was the same, just try to keep him up as long as possible, blow in his face if he falls asleep at the breast, tickle, arm pump. 
If he’s satisfied & not looking to feed again 15 mins later you either have a good or extra supply, or he’s just a really efficient eater. 
One thing you can do is do a weighted feed with a lactation consultant. Weigh baby, feed baby, weigh baby again then you can see how much he’s getting it can give some piece of mind.

My pediatrician had always said 7-10 minutes is plenty in the beginning, their bellies are so small! Speak to yours when you go but it sounds pretty normal to me 🙂
