Did he cheat?

9 months ago I went to my gynecologist appointment and tested positive for chlamydia after visiting my boyfriend a few weeks back. My boyfriend had been at college at the time and promised he hadn’t had sex with anyone. I’ve been having a hard time trusting him because at that time he had been secretly seeing a girl he met there and lied about it. He promised he never had sex with her, but chlamydia doesn’t just appear. Did he cheat?

The only way that he didn’t is if your or him had chlamydia prior as I’ve read medical journals that said chlamydia can live in your gut even after treatment and can reappear without sexual contact (I’m not sure if this is rare though) 
So if neither of you had chlamydia in your life then it would be proof he cheated 😔
