10 week appointment

Brandie

I’m 10 weeks today

I have my exam, pap and meet with the dr. Went over my symptoms and seemed like all my symptoms were normal. She said she was having her nurse see if they can squeeze me in for a dating ultrasound today ( which I thought we were supposed to have anyway) they had me drink water so my bladder was full. Had to check into registration and the lady said, strange, they usually do these upstairs. All I’m thinking is, someone must of dropped the ball with scheduling and just trying to get me in. Well I go to the imaging area and check in. A few mins later, they lady was like, they are going to do your ultrasound on the hospital side, go to the cafeteria the nurse will meet you there, she will see your blue folder and know it’s you. We get there and the nurse is like, have a seat here, I’m with a patient now but when I’m done I’ll come get you. Ok... so we sit in the cafeteria for 5 mins or so, she comes back and rushes me in a room. Asked if I was having problems with my pregnancy, I said no, they said this was a dating ultrasound. She responded, this is a stat ultrasound and only order these if there is something wrong, have you had bleeding? I said I had some spotting last weekend, but it has stopped. She said, lay down, told Chris he could sit up by my head because we weren’t allowed to see the screen and she couldn’t answer any questions. She proceeds to give me an ultrasound in silence, I obviously was an inconvenience. After we are done she told us, since it’s a stat it has to be read today and I have to go back to the drs office. So we head back upstairs. We walk in and the receptionists look confused as to why we are back, we explained what we were told. She goes and talks to the dr. She comes back and says because I had spotting they wanted an ultrasound, ( I was told at my last appointment I was supposed to have one today for 1 and 2 the dr said it was a dating ultrasound) chris said, this was supposed to be our first ultrasound, why weren’t we able to see anything or hear a heartbeat, a piece of mind for our first pregnancy. The receptionist said, you would know what you were looking at anyways, the baby is so tiny tiny.... I was so pissed at that point I got up and said ok, thanks, she knew I was mad and was like, do you want me to get the dr? No, you have waisted enough of my time today. She said Well someone will call you within the hour to go over your scan. It’s been a few hours, I called the office, just to find out that the dr. Hasn’t even looked at my ultrasound yet... though this was a “stat”. Rant over.
