Visitors after giving birth?

So this is probably a dumb question but I’m wondering if it would be okay for my mom to visit me in the hospital the day after I give birth. The issue here is that she recently finished chemo (breast cancer), so her immune system is compromised. I’m not sure if it’s safe for her or baby? Hoping a medical professional can weigh in here and give me some advice, my mom is my rock and I want her there to meet her grandchild!

I was an L&D RN and I agree with both of these comments. As long as baby’s doing well visitors shouldn’t be a problem (just no kissing from anyone who’s not up to date on the pertussis vaccine {Tdap}). 
Your mom’s oncologist should be able to give her some guidelines about coming to the hospital (mask, schedule of treatment, etc.).
L&D and Postpartum are some of the more “clean” areas, but even the general hallways can be pretty germ ridden😩

My MIL had just finished a round of chemo when my niece was born and her doctor advised against going to the hospital, but it was also February and the height of flu season. Her doctor can make a recommendation.
