Baby teeth
My son is 16mo olds. I took him to the dentist for his one year check up appointment and everything was fine. About a week ago I noticed some discoloration in one of his front teeth. Ever since he’s started walking, he has been bumping into every thing, sometimes he’ll bleed a little but he’s teeth never looked damaged from the bumps. Anyway, after I noticed the discoloration and I took him to the dentist and he said that he probably hurt it a while back and now the tooth needs to be taken out because it got infected. He says antibiotics might work for a little bit but that the infection most likely will come back and the tooth will have to be removed either way. My husband wants to try antibiotics to save the tooth, he’s more concerned with the cosmetic part of it. I’m concerned about the effects the antibiotics might have on his body and immune system. If it was guaranteed the antibiotics will get rid of the infection I wouldn’t mind but why give him meds when at end the tooth might still need to be taken out. Plus what about the effect of the infection on the permanent tooth?
Any advice? Anyone has experience this? Suggestions?
Thank you in advance and sorry for the long post
