Are you allowed to go to heaven if you don’t believe in god?
So I am not a very religious person and this is a question I have always wondered. What does the Bible say about this?
What I don’t get is let’s say there is a guy John Doe 1 who kills multiple people and is a terrible person but asks for forgiveness and repents he earns a ticket to heaven. And there is another guy John Doe 2 who is a great person his whole life but doesn’t believe in god, and he earns a ticket to hell. Seems unfair

The Islamic belief is that the worst of believers could have their faith taken from them just before their soul leaves their body. And similarly, that the best of non-believers can be granted faith, just before their soul leaves their body. Muslims believe that He is just and is the knower of hearts. Ultimately, everyone is judged by their hearts and their intentions.

According to Christianity, you can do whatever the hell you want, and be “born again” and saved. But if you simply don’t claim Jesus and god as your savior, you’re going to burn in hell for eternity. 🙄

The fallacy with the point with the John Does is thinking anyone is good enough to earn heaven. The standard is God and God is perfect. Jesus Himself said we will be held accountable for every careless word we speak, so we’re all screwed just by that. So no one is good enough for heaven. That is why Christ’s sacrifice is critical. And anyway, if we could earn heaven, Jesus died for nothing, but we can’t, so His death and resurrection is the only path of salvation. God is a just God and will make sure all evil is punished; nothing escapes Him, and believing in Christ doesn’t mean uttering a few words and calling it good. To follow God means full submission of your life to Him, even to death. So the Christian is to give up their own opinions, actions, wants, beliefs, etc. to God because He is their lord completely. Anything less is sin against Him, so if a murderer did repent, they would know more fully what they had done and they would be fully expected to follow God completely. God can transform everything, so that person’s heart would be made right, but I can guarantee the path would be extremely painful. There is no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus, but God will punish His children for disobedience. To follow Jesus is nothing short of complete obedience to God. It is nothing light and nothing easy. On the other side, for the “good one” (none of us are good), again, no one is good enough to earn heaven and he commits what Jesus shows to be the primary sin. He rejects God’s gift in arrogance because He thinks he is above God’s law and doesn’t need it. He can find heaven his own way. So in his arrogance he runs all-out into his choice: eternal separation from God, therefore eternal separation from all that is good. This app only allows for short answers and more can be said on this subject, but this is the short version.

Believing Jesus Christ and accepting him and repenting your sins is the only way to Heaven.  We are all bad in God's eyes.  For example, if I steal and you kill, both are considered the same sin to God. Just because John Doe 1 is a " good" person to human eye and John doe 2 is a criminal, doesn't mean John doe 1 earns the right to heaven. John doe 2 is a criminal but he can also realize his mistakes and repent of his sins and believe Jesus Christ died for his sins so that he will be given a second chance . If John doe 2 truly believe and turn from his old ways, and he has truly accepted Jesus Christ as his savior he is covered by the blood of Jesus. When he dies, He will go to heaven. John  doe 1.

Native ways gives me peace on this subject. When we pass, no matter the life lead, we go back to our ancestors and the happy hunting ground. Karma will punish us during our life. I believe in Animsm. It's the very first religion known to man. It the idea that everything and everyone has a purpose and a spirit. And therefore must be respected.
      And besides that, Christianity is a trip. So you all know the 12 apostles and Christ right? Well native Americans were slaughtered in numbers of 13 for the twelve and Christ for not accepting Christianity.

We won’t know for sure what happens when we die until we’re dead. There are so many different versions of the Bible that day different things so who’s right and who’s wrong 🤷🏻‍♀️ we just don’t know. But what I’ve always know is that when you die you get a last chance to repent. So if you’ve not believed in God your whole life but the moment you die you believe in Him, then you don’t go to Hell. My religion believes in Purgatory so you’d go there for a while. (You in general not directed to OP)

This is how I understand it... John Doe 1 might get into heaven... depends on when he repented did he actually change his life and really mean it? John Doe 2 is pretty much screwed because he doesn’t follow Christ. Doesn’t matter how good a person her was ect. This never made sense to me. I personally believe in reincarnation. It’s always made the most sense to me.

The Bible says we all have sinned. And God is so holy that He cannot look on our sin. We would be forever divided from Him bc it’s not possible to go into His presence if you’ve even committed one sin, and we all have. An atonement is needed. In the old testament it was the sacrificial system in the temple. He sent His son Jesus to be the sacrificial lamb. By dying on the cross once for all, Jesus atoned for the sins of the world. Through Jesus we can enter the presence of God with our sins washed away. “Sin had left a crimson stain, He washed it white as snow” as the old hymn says. 
So to answer your question, Jesus is the only way to heaven and the presence of God. He says Himself “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father but through Me” (John 14:6). I suggest you get a Bible and start reading the gospels. Start at Matthew. Really dive in. See for yourself what it says.

The Bible actually doesn’t say we go to heaven when we die. 
“For the living know that they will die; but the dead know nothing” - Ecclesiastes 9:5
“Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going” - Ecclesiastes 9:10
“His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish” - Psalms 146:4
Jesus describes Lazarus as “sleeping” in death and when King David died, described as “a man after Gods own heart”,  the Bible says he did not ascend to heaven but sleeps in his grave to this day. We do not go to heaven, we sleep until the day Satan is cast down and Gods kingdom on earth is established. The only exception is the 144,000 that will rule alongside Jesus in the heavenly kingdom that is already being prepared (Revelations).
I’m still researching but from my studies on the last day all who have died will be “raised up” from death, Gods truth will be evident to all and all will have the chance to choose to follow God and live on a paradise earth. The Lords Prayer says “thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.” When we say that prayer we are specifically praying for Gods kingdom to be established on earth as it already exists in heaven. Why have a kingdom on earth if the virtuous go to heaven? The only contradiction to this I find in 2 Peter where Peter talks about the destruction of the world, however I have to study that more for context.
