Is it a bad idea to try to breast feed twins?

I’m having twins very soon, and I’d prefer to breast feed them if possible. Would I not have enough for both? Or do I make more since I have twins? Please help!

I think its possible if you perservere but i have decided to combination feed with breastfeeding, pumping and formula and that works well for us!

You will.make enough for what they need. The body will respond appropriately. (Not always the case though obviously)
I wish I could have breastfed my twins but they were in the NICU so long and got confused with the bottles and absolutely would not take the breast. We then tried exclusively pumping but ended up drying up by two months because I just couldn't keep up with it.

My girls are 20 months old and still nurse. It is hard, don’t get me wrong. For the first week I nursed only, the second week a supplemented a bottle a day because I thought they weren’t getting enough. By the 3rd week my milk finally came down and it was back strictly to breast.

I’m currently breastfeeding my 5 month old twins and we supplement because I can’t pump enough (but they eat plenty from breast so I don’t pump or supplement when I’m with them). 
I won’t lie, it’s HARD. You have to really want to be successful. My best piece of advice would be to make sure you have a supportive partner ready to take on all other duties: changing diapers, filling up your water bottle, getting you a snack, etc., because you feel like you do nothing but feed babies for the first few weeks and it can be exhausting and depressing.  We started tandem feeding regularly at 7 weeks and that has helped  my sanity so much.

My twins are almost 11 months and I am still breastfeeding them, it was one of the best things I could have done for them. It’s difficult and there’s a lot of days you’ll feel like you want to give up but you can do it and you’re body will do what it needs to to make it happen. Good luck!

I tried but my guys had very low blood sugar and needed bottles in nicu then they wouldn’t take nipple at all. It’s possible but if you can’t don’t beat yourself up over it.

You can totally do it. Your body will make what your twins need. I breastfed mine for 8.5m and then started supplementing with HiPP formula when I went back to work.

Lots of mommas breastfeed their twins. I did for 6 month along with formula supplements. You just gotta give it your honest effort. It’s not easy and it’s not always painless but if you don’t try you won’t know if it’s something you guys can commit to. There are lots of ways to feed your babies.
