Need more opinions, sorry it’s long
So a while back a neighbor of mine was walking his beagle mix puppy, who was super cute and hyper. You can tell he has no idea what he’s doing so I teach him a couple basic commands to work with his dog on. He mentions he keeps him in a crate all but 20 MINUTES A DAY! I politely tell the guy I understand crate training is hard but a puppy needs way more exercise than that.
Fast forward, the dog is 11 months old now and still very hyper but an absolute sweetheart. My dog and his dog run and play in the park often, but not only does this guy not know how to care for him but neither does his wife and they also have a 6 year old. For this family the dog always came last, they don’t walk him unless it’s convenient, don’t always take him out to play when I ask (and I did ask as much as I could to help this dog).
They posted on Facebook last night that they are looking to give him another home. We have 1 dog and 3 cats, are ttc for almost 2 years and trying to save up for said potential baby and a bigger car for when the time comes. I just feel so badly for this dog and don’t want him to go back to a shelter or to some other family that doesn’t know how to take care of him! We had been thinking briefly about another dog since ours has some separation anxiety but does so much better with other dogs around (we dogsit sometimes).
Should we take the dog?
