Should I take a pregnant test?

I've been on birth control for about a year now and I've never truly been late taking it or missed a pill. However about a month and a half ago me and my boyfriend had unprotected sex, and since then I've only had a week of light spotting. I havent had any true bleeding or signs of periods since that time, I need to know if I'm panicking for no reason or if I truly need to be a little scared.
