Is this normal?

We are newlyweds but have been together for about 10 years. One day my husband and I were having dinner at home after work. The conversation started by him telling me about his day and all the places he had gone to run errands. One of the stops was at Home Depot, where he picked up paint for us to start our project. Alright cool, we can get started on that this weekend. He then brought up that he also looked at blinds to replace around the house and makes a comment “...and they’re not cheap” so I suggested looking in the clearance to see if we can get any cut to size. He then starts to freak out about looking for stuff in clearance is not possible when he already found the style that he wanted. He then continues to say angrily “well if you want to look around for them then go ahead but YOU buy them.” Note, I’m perfectly fine with the blinds we have except for one that really needs to be replaced. HE’S the one that brought it up and says how expensive they are and complains about my suggestion, like “goodie-two shoes.” Is that an asshole move or am I just crazy? I was only trying to make a nice gesture but he fires back and becomes almost offended. PSA for the day.
