Should you have to stop loud music at 10pm on a special one off occasion event?

In my area there’s a lovely local festival, for just a well spirited night of all sorts of music and genres to raise money for something in my village. 
It’s a Saturday night and we rare get big events/festivals here, if ever, I’m not personally at this event as too pregnant for life but they couldn’t get permission to have it running for an extra hour due to surrounding people not liking that, etc. 
I was wondering if as it’s a one off event on a Saturday night, should they have been allowed to play till 11pm or so? What’s your thoughts? I felt half and half because we do have a neighbourhood of elderly people, families with babies and that’s quite disturbing even as a one off event with loud music but then part of me thinks as it’s a one off and it’s Saturday maybe they should be able to live a little? Let me know your thoughts 😁

If it affects  residents.... than they should get  the vote. Not everyone is off weekends.   But also, let's  have this convo  when that baby comes.... if one less hour of sleep means anything  to u.

I think it should be up to the people who live in that area to decide. I think it’s nice that the residents were heard and they followed their wishes.

If people voted no then that's it 
People's lives do not stop only because there's a festival coming to town. Those who need to study until late won't have all their books read to them, those who work won't take time off, the babies won't magically give their parents a break from being sleepy and stressed with the noise. 
I'm very bitter about this subject since my street hosts very loud events until 4am on some weekends...

I think loud music after 10pm is unnecessary regardless of the event. People still have jobs to go to, kids to get to sleep, or just needing to get to bed at a decent hour. These events should be respectful to others, even if they’re not often.

It should be a across the board kind of rule. Telling one group of people to “lighten up a little” only encourages special privileges that could lead to unfair discrimination

You don't live near me do you? I've been to a smallish local festival today and that has the last band on starting at 8:30 and the whole thing closes by 10 because it upsets the locals.
I do get both sides, it is only once a year and is well staffed with security and raises money for a good cause but for people living nearby it causes traffic problems as well as drunk people around the streets on top of the music.

I might be the odd one out here, and say it’s kind of stupid they didn’t allow it. It’s not like they’re playing till midnight, or even later. I do live in an area where festivals and concerts happening all summer are like an every weekend type thing. Our state fair grounds are literally smack dab in the middle of neighborhoods and they have dozens of bands playing on any given night, and open till midnight. We also have a church who does a huge festival every year, and they’re right on the back road to our subdivision. I can hear everything from it, is it annoying, maybe sometimes, but it’s never kept my kids from sleeping. 🤷🏽‍♀️ 
I’m also shocked that they allowed t to go for a vote. I have never heard of that happening anywhere I live by. Not saying people should just deal, a vote is a vote, and majority won, but I also don’t find it to be that big of a deal.

Depends on bylaws and if they have a permit to go past the legal cut off time. 
Outdoor concerts, fairs and firework displays, etc all need a permit to go past noise cut off bylaw hours. 
Maybe put in a noise complaint and see what happens because when you phone it in, they should be able to say if they have a permit or not.

If it could fairly be a one time thing, maybe.  But what you do for one group you’d have to do for all, so it’s easier to have a reasonable rule and stick with it.
