💔 Just a vent

My grandma fell 2-3 weeks ago and ended up in the hospital. They moved her to a wellness center to see if they could get her better rehab and fix what’s going on with her after the fall. But she has dementia AND the whole family is concerned the doctors missed something more serious in her injuries, like a spinal or neck injury.

We went to visit her yesterday on the beginning of our 13th week in pregnancy. She was barely responding to any exercises and was hard to understand. It broke me. I showed her the 10 week ultrasound we had gotten and told her it was her great grandson. I let her know everything I could about him and the appts. I told her she has to get better so that if I don’t take care of myself while pregnant she can come beat for it like she promised. 💔

I want more than anything for her to be there for him when he’s born. I just want to see her hold him. I know it’s probably unrealistic while she’s in this state because she seems to have given up. She just doesn’t want to try anymore and I understand why. She’s been through a lot and she’s in so much pain it’s hard to watch.

But I hope she can bounce back from this awful event. Maybe she’ll take us all by surprise and become even better. ❤️ That’s the hope anyways.

I lost my other grandma to a fall injury as well not even 2 years ago. So I’m not really ready for this to happen again...

But if something does happen, I’ll just remember the last time I saw her before she fell when she was laughing and happy and touching my belly, asking all the questions she could. That’s what I’ll remember.

We are giving the baby the middle name Lee which is a lot of our families middle names, but it feels more dedicated to her than ever now.

I broke down crying in front of my SO yesterday after he asked if I wanted to talk about it. I thought I was fine until he said those couple of words. But he was there to support and love me through my snot and tears and that’s what matters to me. I love him...❤️
