What does the word “discipline” mean to you?

When it comes to your child and all the way up to when they turn 3 years old what does the word mean to you and what do you do for discipline. There is no right or wrong answer just want YOUR opinion and what you will be doing for YOUR child. (For a school project)(parenting education class)  thank youu(:

To me discipline is about setting expectations and boundaries. Most discipline before is proactive not reactive. Babies aren’t born knowing “the rules”. You have to teach them! We use a warning and then timeout for my oldest (3.5) and started that at about 18 months. We do believe in spanking but only as a last resort and for very specific things. For instance, running away from mommy in a parking lot. It’s just not safe. The discipline needs to be a bit “shocking” to help them get the message. That doesn’t necessarily mean it has to be a spanking but it has to make an impression. In my experience, if you do a great job setting behavioral expectations and boundaries proactively, reactive discipline isn’t needed all that often. Just my two cents. 😊

Redirecting the child. I usually try to do things that will make them think. Conversation,corner, room. If it’s repetitive and I know they know what they are doing is wrong I spank them
