The bridesmaid pt.8

Couples started heading towards the dance floor. First the bride & groom, the bride & groom’s parents, then parts of the entourage & others followed. The little ring bearer walked right up to Summer & asked her to dance. She smiled & said,”yes.” Tony was watching the whole time. He sipped from his glass as his gaze continued to follow Summer around the dance floor. Tony’s dad noticed that someone caught his son’s eye so he decided to encourage him a bit.

Dad: Hey son.

Tony: Hey dad.

Dad: Thanks, for staying.

Tony: Anything for family.

Dad: Son.

Tony: Yes, dad.

Dad: What are you doing sitting here on your butt? You & I both know you want get on up & ask that pretty little thing to dance.

Tony continues to sip his drink & looks down at the table.

Dad: Tony, life is too short to second guess yourself. I’m glad I met your mother when I did. If I was even one second later, we wouldn’t have ended up together & you...

Tony: Wouldn’t be here. Yes, dad. I know this story by heart.

Dad: Go our there & make your move so that your future children will thank you someday.

Dad left the table. Tony knew what he wanted to do. He set his glass down & headed towards the dance floor. Summer saw Tony heading her way.

Tony bent down, tapped the ring bearer on the shoulder & said,”Excuse me, may I cut in?” The little boy nodded & ran off.

Summer loved being in Tony’s arms. She felt so safe & secure.

Summer: such a beautiful night, isn’t it?

Tony: Sure is.

Summer: I was wondering when you’d come ask me to dance.

Summer wrapped both arms around Tony’s nape & Tony wrapped his arms around Summer’s waist. Tony pulled summer even closer to his body. The two swayed in time to the romantic song playing & for the next two minutes just rested in each other’s embrace. It seemed as if they were the only 2 people in the room. Everyone could see the bond between the two of them.

After the song ended, Summer looked up & smiled at Tony. She wanted to kiss him, but he gently took her arms off of his neck & walked off the dance floor. She was a bit bothered, but figured he’d come back. She walked off the dance floor to sit down.

After the cake was served & the speeches were given, Summer noticed Tony was gone. She headed to the bar for a quick drink. She noticed one of the groomsmen standing by & asked if he saw Tony.

Eric: Oh, he left a while ago.

Summer: oh ok... Do you know where he went?

Eric: probably for a walk or back to the room.

Summer: ok, thanks.

Eric: oh & I hope you don’t mind.

Summer: Don’t mind what?

Eric: I told him about John (her husband) & Savannah (her daughter).

Summer started grabbing her things.

Summer: I have to go.

Lauren was standing by & overheard the conversation.

Lauren: Eric, why’d you do that?

Eric: Tony deserves to know.

Lauren: Not like this & you don’t even know the whole story.

Eric: Well, do you?

Lauren: I know enough.

Lauren stormed off, annoyed at Eric.

Summer started walking around the hotel lobby & around the reception hall, when she didn’t see Tony downstairs, she decided to check the hotel room.

Tony was almost done packing his things in the hotel room & decided to shower before heading out. He had a crazy couple days flying in from Texas, preparing for his brother’s wedding & meeting Summer. He was in love & he knew it, but he couldn’t be with a married woman. He felt guilty & heartbroken. At least he had one last dance with her. Those were memories that would stay with him forever.
