The bridesmaid pt.16

ONE YEAR LATER...

Tony’s Texan ranching business was doing very well. He expanded his business throughout several cities in Texas & officially named his horse ranch, Summer Stables. Summer was the motivation behind all his recent success. The first few months since meeting Summer was rough, but Tony kept busy & eventually built his dream ranch. There was a never a day where Summer was not on his mind.

Back in Los Angeles, John did everything he could to pacify & pamper Summer even more. He sent her flowers almost weekly, he took her out to fancy dinners on frequent date nights, he sent her away on local spa retreats downtown where all the A-listers were, but he could still see that Summer’s heart was distant from him. Summer grew numb & was afraid her own daughter would notice the coldness. She did everything she could to shield her daughter from any impact during John & Summer’s many quarrels. Savannah would be turning 7 soon & as usual, her birthdays were always the biggest & best in town. Her birthday would serve as a good distraction from all the family drama. All Savannah wanted was a pony. All the local breeders pointed towards a ranch located in Texas. Before making any purchases, the whole family made a trip out West towards Texas to check out the pony for Savannah.

You could tell the Morales family were city people, they drove up to a ranch which just so happened to be Tony’s ranch. They stepped out to the car & were greeted by Tony’s ranch hand.

Ranch Hand (Dennis): Howdy y’all! The name’s Dennis. How may I be of service?

John: I’m John Morales. This is my wife, Summer & my daughter, Savannah.

Summer & Savannah smile.

Dennis: Hello sir. Hello ladies. *tipped his hat*

Pardon the dust.

Summer: Nice to meet you Dennis. My daughter & I don’t mind the dust.

John (dusting off his shoes & hands): Anyways, We’re here to inquire about a pony for our daughter.

Dennis: Yes, Yes. My apologies. Right this way. We’ve been expecting you.

Summer: You have a lovely ranch.

Dennis: Thank you ma’am, but I can’t take any credit for this beauty! I’m just a ranch hand. The ranch actually belongs to...

Just then, a man on a horse appears from the back of the ranch. He dismounts the horse & hands the reins to Dennis. John braces himself from all the dust (he hated the outdoors).

Savannah: Whoa!

Dennis: Hello Tony. You know how to make quite the entrance. Speak of the devil. This is Mr. Anthony Bastiani the owner of Summer Stables.

Tony & Summer’s eyes lock. Tony reached to shake John’s hand.
