Naming after mom or dad?

How do you feel about naming your son after the dad?  Junior, 3rd or 4th.... I feel like this is expected in my husbands family and we are not into it.  I have a unisex name and when I mention after me, or adding my name to part of it it's frowned upon.  Makes me so mad!

I'm naming my son after me. I will be a single mother but I like the idea of naming your kids after the mom sometimes because how come the dads always get to have their kids named after them but not the mother who carried that child? I'm naming him Layne Rhyder Engeling. My middle name is Layne and he is getting my last name as well

My son is the 4th and I definitely regret it!
I only did it for his dad and their side of the family and I wish I never had!

We plan to do same first name since it would be a fourth generation but we will NOT be calling him that name. We will call him one of his middle names. If it's not important to you guys, don't do it. You are the ones who have to live with it.

I'm actually planning to name our daughter after my mom who passed away when I was 16. She was my world, and at the end I lived alone with her. My mom's name was Sandra but everybody called her Sandy. My daughter's name will be Cassandra with the nickname of "Little Sandy."

My husbands family has a long tradition of naming the baby after its grandparents, so my kids should have my FIL and MILs names but i said no. they got very mad about it to my husbands brother when they didnt do it either but they love their grandkids so much. any issues the grandparents have hopefully become much less of an issue when the baby is born and everyone falls in love!

It's your baby your choice, you'll regret it if you only named your baby to keep people happy who won't compromise with you even though it is your baby, have a chat with your partner and explain its not what you want and he'll understand! It's going to be your family and you need to take control :) X

My husband and I had a hard time deciding on a name if we were having a boy and I asked him if he wanted to do a junior he told me he thought it would be creepy lol. We agreed on naming him Perry William which is my husbands middle name and my FIL middle name. We're having a girl though Addison Flynn and her middle name is her maternal great-grandma's maiden name.

Meh. I don't mind it. The only reason I would do it is if my husband wanted to, but he's totally against it. He's fine with using family names as middle names. The names we really like are: Raylan Xavier (great grandma needed a grandchild that started with the letter x), Penelope Renee (my MIL middle name is Renee), Thayer Dean (my dads middle name is Dean) and Charlotte Lee (both my mom and my FIL middle names are Leigh/Lee).
