I feel like all my baby does is poop... how much is too much???

So my breastfed LO is 10 days old and now has a rash between her butt cheeks, she poops constantly it’s runny/mushy yellow poop, when I was at the midwifes last they said the consistency was good (it’s still the same consistency) but her poor bum looks so sore and I swear is because she’s always pooping.
I have an appointment tomorrow so I will be asking about this then, but looking to see if anyone else is in the same shoes?

Yes. Babies poop A LOT. Especially infants. Aquaphor is amazing at creating a barrier between her bottom and the acidic poop. Vaseline works the same way and is cheaper. Switching diaper brands is premature as you havent tried other less expensive alternatives yet. Plus if it were the diaper it likely would've created a rash elsewhere than just her cheeks. See what your pediatrician says. Good luck & best wishes.

Mine poops a ton! I dont use wipes, I use wash clothes with water and we haven’t had issues with rashes. I did this at the suggestion of my pediatrician who said to not use wipes until past 1 month. If you’re using wipes, maybe switch to wash clothes with water or use Aquaphor or A&D. Also letting her air dry would be good but I know that’s hard because their pee/poop is unpredictable!

Yep totally normal 😊 I found using penaten cream worked incredibly well for the diaper rash, clears it up in a day or 2.

Our LO was having a red and raw bottom so we started airing him out with each diaper change for a little bit (making sure he wasn’t moist) and applying A&D ointment for a barrier. We also wrapped him loosely in a towel and let the raw area get super dry at least once a day for about 10 minutes and he healed completely in 3 days

My baby had such a bad butt rash from the same thing. Budreaux's butt paste is a life saver. It made a big difference after just one application. Also, try leaving her diaper off for a while and just loosly wrapping a towel around her. You'll be doing a lot of laundry but it helps immensely. Good luck.

I had the same issue. It got to be bad enough that the sores started bleeding a little. The diaper cream I was using wasn't helping. My mom (who had 7 children) recommended switching diaper brands because we were using a cheap brand (parents choice). The chemicals can be harsh on babies skin. Now we are using Pampers pure and having no issues. She also recommended using lanolin cream instead of diaper cream to help heal everything and it worked like a charm. My daughter still poops all the time too.
