Am I crazy???

Hello, so last night my son and his grandparents(my inlaws) were sitting on the front porch. They were there around 8 pm, it was dark, when we went to go check on them around 8:10.... All three were gone! We went searching the neighborhood, the parks, neighbors houses... They were no where to be found. So I call the police. Well it turns out they took my son (2yrs old) for a walk, without letting anyone know. They freaked out on us for calling the police because we were worried, and threw us out of their house. Am I crazy?

You called the police with 10 minutes of not knowing where they were. Police don't even take missing people's reports until 24 hours. You had to assume that they were together.

Meh. I wouldn't have reacted that way. I trust my in-laws as well as my parents. If I came gone and my son and his grandparents were gone, I wouldn't care much. I would know that he is safe with them. If they were gone for more than an hour then I would call just to check in on when they would be back. I think they have every right to be upset. They love their grand baby and wouldn't put him in harms way. I'm sorry that this scared you so much 😔 it's hard being a parent

Everyone is different but I wouldn't of called the police because I would assume they went somewhere but I would call the police if MY grandmother was no where to be seen with my child!(she has Alzheimer's) lol

I would definitely freak out - they do not need to be taking your 2 year old for walks at that time of night let alone without telling you! Totally out of order and would give you every reason to be out of our mind with worry!

I would have been upset but not called the police!  How long were they gone for?  If it was hours then maybe but if they were only on a walk I'm sure they were not gone long enough to call the police.  I would apologize to them and just tell them next time can you let us know your going for a walk.

Not crazy at all. I went thru a similar situation. My husband and I went on a quick dinner date leaving my 1 yr old with my mother in law. We had her car so she could use ours for the car seat (just in case of an emergency). My brother in law called b'c he needed the car so we cut our short date even shorter and went back to my in laws. She wasn't there. She didn't answer her phone, her husband and daughter didn't know where she was. We freaked out. Used yet another car to go look for them with no luck. By the time we got back she was home with our baby and furious that we went looking for her. Took awhile to mend those fences. You have every right to be worried when you don't know where your child is, even if the last time you saw them was with family.

I wouldn't have called the cops, but I would have been sooooo angry...they had no right to take your child anywhere that late without telling you first

No you are not crazy i probs wouldve done the same hes only 2 yrs old i understand he was with grandparents but they shouldve let you know at least😊

You're not crazy at all! Why would the grandparents think it's okay to leave without telling the mother first? You're probably better off out of their home if they have such disregard for your feelings as the mother. You'd think the grandmother would've know been... It would've taken literally a second to come and say "hey we're going on a walk we'll be back in an hour". You did the right thing calling the police mama!!!
