Dentist while pregnant?????

I have a dentist appointment tomorrow for an X-ray I'm a it nervous but they have re assured me that it's safe and they do it different since I'm pregnant. Has anyone had X-rays done while pregnant? Tell me your stories!!:)

I'm an X-ray tech and currently pregnant. Getting dental X-rays is perfectly safe during pregnancy if necessary. Just make sure they shield your belly with the lead apron. That being said, if you aren't having any tooth pain that they are concerned about, I would opt to skip them until after pregnancy. No need for radiation exposure if you're not having any pain.

I had to get a foot x-ray when I was 4 weeks, then went to the dentist at 12 weeks and the hygienist said they would skip the x-rays. I would agree that if its not for anything emergent, skip it!

My dentist won't do X-rays on a pregnant woman, they just put it off until the next visit. You're within your rights to refuse X-rays and just do the cleaning. It's important to do the cleaning part, and even certain dental work (like fillings) when pregnant, since the hormones can make our teeth and gums weaker.

I'm a hygienist and I skipped the x-rays. However, if your having pain, get them done. Digital x-rays have lower radiation compared to the old fashion film. Talk to your dentist and best luck

I agree, if it's not super serious, I'd skip it til after you've had the baby. I just went to my dentist last week and we put off the xrays til May next year.

If you are unsure talk to your doctor. It depends on your pregnancy. A dentist is not a pregnancy expert remember that. Better safe than sorry is my advice! Your doctor knows best usually. And if you personally feel hesitant you have every right to say no until after baby comes :)

My dentist skipped the xrays at my last visit and just did a cleaning and exam. I have my next appt a few weeks after baby arrives. My dentist is actually married yo an OB and he said that it just wasn't worth the risk.

I went two weeks ago. We skipped the x-rays and just scheduled them for my next appointment after the baby is born. They advised not to do any x-rays unless absolutely necessary, so since I had no complaints of tooth pain or anything like that, we opted not to do them.
