Period like symptoms

I'm 6 weeks pregnant with my 3rd baby. I am having cramping and light spotting/bleeding. I went to the Dr today but have to wait another week because it's to early to tell anything. I was told it could be signs of an early miscarriage but I was also told some people experience this and go on to have healthy pregnancies. I'm just curious as to how many of you experienced this and had a good outcome! Feeling nervous... (they did do some bloodwork today and when I go back next Tuesday I will get another ultrasound,seems like so long to wait!)
