Irregular period

So my period is super irregular, I’ll have a period twice a month and then sometimes I might be 2 weeks late, I’m not sexually active. I’ve heard going on birth control would help, but I’m scared to ask my mom about going on it. I have before and she just blew it off and said that it just enables sexual irresponsibility. So is there any other way to help with my situation because it’s becoming a major inconvenience.
