Is there any reason NOT to get induced?

I'm 38w3d pregnant and at my appointment today they said I was 1cm dilated and 80% effaced. The nurse said that if I'm dilated to 2cm at my visit next Monday that they might talk about inducing me which makes me so happy because I am in so much pain! So my question is, is there any reason to say no to being induced? And none of that "the baby will come when it's ready" crap, I want real answers 😂 Thanks!

Uh...yes. Labor is SO much different when it starts on its own. I was induced with my first--I was uncomfortable and over it....it was not a pleasant experince. Fast forward, I was pregnant with twins, 36 w, 2days, and i had contractions all the way to 9cm dialated without even realizing I was in labor. Delivered twins naturally in 90 minutes, vs 18 hrs with my first. 
Higher rate of C section with induction also. A nurse told me that after my first was born, she went off shift before he was delivered, came back on after he was born and said "oh, I am so glad things went well for you--we see SO many inductions go to C section"

Why would they induce you at 39 weeks? Are you high risk? If not, I'd wait baby out. I was induced and honestly it went great but I wouldn't have done it if I wasn't a week already overdue with a climbing BP.

There's been research done years ago that says inducing leads to a higher C-Section rate but there's also been a study recently saying that the two are correlated but not in direct cause of one another. For example, higher risks pregnancies are often induced but are already at a higher chance of C-section too. I think more research needs done to say for sure.

It's honestly up to you but I'd at least wait till you were overdue before inducing.

Inductions hurt more than natural labor. Also they increase your risk of needing a c-section if the induction should fail.

It's probably something you need professional advice about. I've had natural labours and been induce with pitocin and breaking waters and with my last just breaking waters was enough to make it happen. (My waters have never broken on their own and I've had 6 babies so far) my pitocin induction was no worse than any of my others. I was prepared for the worst since everyone says contractions are far worse when you've been induced. Each pregnancy and labour are different my last was the worst for me but only because my waters were broken and he was in my arms within an hour and before breaking my waters I had no signs of labour. But like I said professional advice may be the best option because none of us are experts and all we can give is our opinion and stories we've heard. It's your choice in the end.

I believe you should decide on your own because people always say that crap that the baby will come whenever he's ready !! But reality is that they just might not know how miserable it could get for us late in pregnancy .. So go ahead and do it ..

Higher risk of C section. Once you start the induction process you start a timer - typically after 24 hours they push c section on you. Causes fetal distresses due to unnatural contractions. Much, much more painful.

I was induced with my first and I actually enjoyed it! Everything happened smoothly and when they told me to push, I had my baby in my arms 3 hrs later. To me, it was worth it! But to each their own! If you're willing to wait it out, do it! If not, def talk to your OB about the pros and cons. They def have more insight😉

I went into labor on my own with my first 2 and was induced with my third. Was my choice at 39 wks but my baby ended up being transverse the day before and breech morning of so my Dr had to manually turn him and induced me so he wouldn't flip again. The contractions were not anywhere as strong as my first 2 and i progressed alot faster than my dr thought with him not being dropped in my pelvis at all. It all depends on each person and usually if its your first There is a higher risk for csection.
