What's a full term pregnancy?

You know when you get pregnant and everyone wishes you a safe 9 months of pregnancy. But when you log in to pregnancy app they tell you that 40 weeks is your full term. Doesnt 40 weeks equal to 10 months instead of 9 months?

I was a bit confused by this my first pregnancy. Not every month is 4 weeks long so it’s not a very accurate measure. Developmentally, everything goes according to weeks as well.

The first 2 weeks you are not really pregnant but technically it’s 10 months!! Lol

It's because it's a full 9 months, so 40 weeks. 36 weeks is when you start your 9th month.

No, if pregnancy was 10 months,  each month would be exactly 4 weeks (28 days) long. But this isn't the case. Most months have 31 days. So pregnancy is actually closer to 9 months long.

I think because week 40 would be the end of the 9th month. Like completing month 9 (36-40). It is misleading though since 37-42 weeks is normal.
