Are you using a seat to help your baby learn how to sit up on their own?

Also, how long to babies typically use these for? 
I was gifted a bumbo but the fisher price ones look more fun. Have also read a lot of conflicting opinions about babies using these. Thanks!

Baby sits on our laps, propped up on pillows or propped up on the couch. We don't have the need for a seat and I'm just not sure it's that good for them, but I haven't looked into it.

Its okay if they're in a seat to play, but how they sit in a bumbo chair is not how they would sit on their own and doesn't teach them to use the righr muscles, so it should not be mistaken as something to help them learn to sit. 
Sit them down and hold their hands to help keep them steady, prop baby up using pillows or on your lap for the best results.

We have the sit me up seat, but only because she likes spending 5-15 min in it while playing 1-2 times a day, not to help her learn how to sit up because it really doesn’t do that, and nor do any other baby seats especially the Bumbo. It’s just another baby holder as a convenience when I need to get something done, to clarify.

We have the summer 4 in 1 super seat. It grows with the child. We only use it right now with our son for about 5-10 minutes at a time (if he lasts that long lol) to help him practice his head control more than sitting up but it helps both. He hates ..HATES...being on his tummy and loves being upright so I think it works for him. He just gets frustrated because he loves to kick his legs and it’s a bit restricting for power kicks. It’s best to use it when they demonstrate that they can sit on their own. What you’re looking for is that their spine is relatively straight when in the seat. There are some great videos on YouTube by OT peeps on the subject. My chiropractor strongly advises against using anything that could cause babies to skip a developmental step.

We have the sit me up seats for our boys but they dont spend alot of time in them. We practice sitting up my holding their hands and pulling them up. They do this at physio too.

I got a fisher price sit me up thing and was so excited to have her in it. But she pretty much hates it after 2-3 min in it. She likes to kick and when she kicks there’s no ground or kick back (if that makes sense) so she gets frustrated. Had I known this I wouldn’t have gotten it. It’s another clunky thing now in my Living room.
